With the onset of warmer weather there will be an increase in the use of our roadways by walkers, joggers, bicyclists and motorcycles. Why should any of these folks fear for their safety because some people are too careless and selfish? Don’t people know enough to not get behind the wheel when they are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs or to stop texting while they are driving?

You read it in the paper and see it on the news all the time about someone being killed or hurt by someone driving distracted or under the influence. In the last month I have seen four drivers that were not trying to hide the fact that they were texting and driving at all.

Please take the time to think about what you are doing or going to do before you get behind the wheel. It only takes a spit second for something to go terribly wrong — don’t put yours or someone else’s life on the line just for your own gratification.
