PHIPPSBURG – Gloria Coffin Wallace, 89, entered her Heavenly home, Sept. 28, 2019.
Gloria was born July 24, 1930, to parents Donald and Grace Alexander Coffin, in Brunswick.
She was married Nov. 6, 1946, after a six month courtship to her life-long love, Granville Wallace Sr. who preceded her in death in 2016. They were married for 69 years.
Gloria was a loving and devoted mother to her children, Granville Wallace Jr., Brenda Carlton, Becky Roberson, Dudley Wallace, Eric Wallace, and Donald Wallace. The legacy of her kind spirit lives through them. She was a cherished grandmother to 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. All of which she loved and touched deeply.
Gloria was a dedicated wife, mother, homemaker, and friend. Her hands were rarely still keeping a clean house and cooking. Cooking was something she enjoyed. Cook books were abundant in her home with recipes shared by family and church members, and sprinkled with cliff notes throughout, of what she had tried and revised to make her own. Gloria, tireless and selflessly, had a gift of keeping a warm welcoming home, not with material things, but just by her presence. The home she kept was a true demonstration of unconditional love. Her face would light up when she heard family walk through the door, when you told her the roses were at full bloom, or that there were animals outside at play. You see, that was just the way she was, she loved her family, nature, and all the animals within it.
If love alone would have kept Gloria here, she would have never have gone. We take comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her husband, mother, and father, in which she expressed missing so much.
A celebration of life will be held Oct. 6, 2019, at Maritime Apartments, 12 Windjammer Way, Bath Maine at 2 p.m.
Arrangements are under the care of Funeral Alternatives, 46 Bath Rd., Brunswick, ME 04011 www.funeralalternatives.net
