FARMINGTON — A tractor-trailer snagged power lines and broke two utility poles Monday morning on Town Farm Road. A residential electrical service was also ripped off a house, police officer Riley Dowe said.

Stephen Howes, 60, of Jay was driving to Farmington Chipping Enterprise off Town Farm Road when the rig, owned by E.J. Carrier Inc. of Jackman, hit the wires, Dowe said.

About 90 Central Maine Power Co. customers were without power for several hours.

Both ends of the road were blocked off from West Farmington to the Fairbanks section of town from about 7:30 a.m. to about 2:30 p.m. Traffic was detoured for about 7 hours

Farmington Fire Rescue Department was on the scene for several hours.
