Chris Stevens, playing concertina and accordion, will be joined by his spouse, Amanda Gale, on piano with a program of Celtic music as the the Oasis of Music resumes its weekly schedule at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston.

One of the foremost exponents of the concertina and button accordion in the Irish style, Christian “Junior” Stevens has spent two decades surrounded by the thriving Irish music community of America. He has studied with the legendary Noel Hill, and received a performance degree in piano from the University of Massachusetts. In 2017, he was named a master musician by the Maine Arts Commission, receiving an Artist Fellowship. He is a talented performer with a unique style, and has been featured on many recordings and stages from local dance halls to the Library of Congress. Also a highly regarded educator, he taught for many years as part of the faculty at the Hanafin-Cooley CCÉ Music School in Boston. Amanda Gale is the music director at First Parish Church in Yarmouth. She also coordinates for the Maine Acoustic Festival and teaches at 317 Main Music in Yarmouth, where she also directs its summer camp.

Admission to the Oasis of Music is free, with donations accepted. Covid restrictions of mask-wearing, social distancing are observed, with a maximum number of attendees set at 35. For more information, call (207) 344-3106.
