Jax Guay is the featured artist for the month of April in the Art and Ale Window at Gritty’s in Auburn.

Guay has been drawing since early childhood. She describes her process as completely motivated by her heart, mind and soul. Guay is a 42-year-old retired combat medic non-commissioned officer. She served in the United States Army for 15 years and was deployed multiple times to Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2016, she was officially discharged due to combat-related post-traumatic stress syndrome and multiple orthopedic traumas. She was awarded her pension and says she is very grateful for her career.

“Serving was an absolute honor and privilege,” Guay said.

Guay says she has seen much of the world, and that her experiences have humbled her and her art comes from the depths of her core.

Many of Guay’s pieces directly relate to her experiences in the service. Other pieces are streams of consciousness. She often starts a piece and has absolutely no idea what it will turn into, she says. She enjoys creating personal pieces as well for friends and family. Her current creations are part of an ongoing portfolio.

Guay currently serves in numerous volunteer positions within the community.
