BELGRADE — Two drivers suffered multiple injuries Tuesday morning when their vehicles hit head-on on Manchester Road in Belgrade, according to officials.

An SUV and a Chevrolet Cruze sedan collided at about 9:30 a.m. on a curved area of state Route 135, north of Bartlett Road.

Emergency workers from Belgrade Fire & Rescue removed the drivers from the vehicles. The drivers were then taken to the hospital, according to police.

The road remained closed for several hours following the crash as police reconstructed the collision.

Officials said Tuesday afternoon they did not know the extent of the drivers’ injuries.

Staff Sgt. Frank Hatch of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday he had no further information on the crash.
