AUGUSTA — Kennebec Savings Bank received the Exceptional Community Bank Service Award from the Independent Community Bankers of America. ICBA’s National Community Bank Service Awards recognize the service and volunteer efforts of community banks throughout the country.

KSB, with $1.36 billion in assets, was recognized in particular for fighting food insecurity during the pandemic. The bank helped nonprofit organizations distribute more than 2,300 boxes of food, 2,300 gallons of milk, and 1,200 turkeys to families hit hard by COVID-19, and last year donated more than $1.1 million to 300 nonprofits and charitable causes across the 35 communities it serves.

“Kennebec’s sterling example is a testament to the power of relationship banking upon which the community banking business model was built,” ICBA President and CEO Rebeca Romero Rainey said.
