AUGUSTA — A Waterville woman who is a high school teacher has been indicted on several charges stemming from an October incident in which police allege she assaulted two people and endangered the welfare of her child.

Karina A. Beadling, 39, allegedly went to a Morrill Avenue home in Waterville on Oct. 22 where she got into an argument with her ex-boyfriend and other people inside the home, and assaulted two people there.

Regional School Unit 3’s website indicates Beadling is a Spanish teacher at Mount View High School in Thorndike.

Before police arrived, Beadling left the residence but then drove by as police were talking to other people at the house. She was stopped by officers soon after, according to Waterville police Chief Joseph Massey.

Beadling had swelling above her right eye and dried blood around her mouth and officers said at the time they could smell alcohol, the Republican Journal reported. Officers attempted to get Beadling to give them her license and come out of the car but she refused, and was removed from her car and arrested.

Officers discovered Beadling’s 7-year-old daughter in the back seat of the car. The child was not injured and was released to the custody of a relative, police said.

A Kennebec County Grand Jury on Thursday indicted Beadling on charges of aggravated criminal trespass; domestic violence assault; assault; endangering the welfare of a child; criminal mischief; and driving to endanger.

The indictment states Beadling entered the dwelling and committed assault, domestic violence assault, and destroyed or damaged household items there.

An indictment is not a determination of guilt but indicates there is enough evidence for the case to proceed toward trial.
