BANGOR — Carolina Bournemann had 21 points, while Anne Simon had a double-double and the University of Maine women’s basketball team stretched its winning streak to 13 with a 63-49 win over Hartford in an America East quarterfinal game on Saturday at Cross Insurance Center.

Simon added 17 points and 12 rebounds for Black Bears, the top seed in the tournament. Maine improves to 19-10 and will host New Jersey Institute of Technology at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the semifinals. No. 8 Hartford ends the season 4-26.

Maeve Carroll scored 12 of her 14 points in the fourth quarter for the Black Bears.

Carmen Villalobos had 13 points for Hartford.

NEW YORK UNIVERSITY 76, BATES 54: Natalie Burns had 14 points and 12 rebounds as the Violets (24-1) beat the Bobcats (18-8) in the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament in New York.

Belle Pellecchia added 13 points and nine rebounds for New York University. Jenny Walker and Brooklyn Shelton also had 13 points each.

Morgan Kennedy scored 14 points and Meghan Graff added 13 for Bates.

MEN’S HOCKEY

COLBY 6, HAMILTON 4: Quinn Doyle scored two goals to lead the Mules (17-5-2) past the Continentals (11-10-1) in the NESCAC tournament semifinals in Waterville.

Michael Thomas, Jake MacDonald, Jacob Thousand and Jake Klein also scored for Colby, who faces Trinity in the tournament final at 2 p.m. Sunday. Andy Beran made 29 saves.

U. OF NEW ENGLAND 3, ENDICOTT 2: Jared Christy scored a power-play goal in overtime and the top-seeded Nor’easters (21-3-1) beat the second-seeded Gulls (20-6-1) in Biddeford to win the Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament title and earn a berth in the NCAA Division III tournament.

Aaron Aragon scored with less than a minute to play in the third period to send the game to overtime for UNE. Chris Jones also scored for the Nor’easters.

Mitch Shaheen scored twice for Endicott.

MAINE 8, BOSTON UNIVERSITY 1: (The Black Bears 7-21-4, 5-17-2 Hockey East) took a 6-0 lead in the second period and cruised to a win over the Terriers (19-12-3, 14-8-3) in Orono.

Aj Drobot, Matthew Fawcett, Nolan Renwick and Ben Poisson scored in the first period, then Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup and Grant Hebert scored in the second for Maine. Lynden Breen and Keenan Suthers added third-period goals.

Wilmer Skoog scored for Boston University.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

ENDICOTT 2, U. OF NEW ENGLAND 1: Jacy Kuhlman and Kellie Popkin scored in the second period as the Gulls (19-4-1) beat the Nor’easters (11-13-2) in the Commonwealth Coast Conference championship game in Beverly, Massachusetts.

Maeve Crehan scored in the third period for the Nor’easters.

AMHERST 2, COLBY 1 (OT): Avery Flynn scored in overtime as the Mammoths (14-8) beat the Mules (16-5) in the NESCAC tournament semifinals in Middlebury, Vermont.

Ann Baxter also scored for Amherst. Caitlin Walker made 28 saves.

Meg Rittenhouse netted Colby’s goal and Nina Prunster tallied 21 saves.

MEN’S LACROSSE

BOWDOIN 13, MIDDLEBURY 12: Patrick Fitzgerald had four goals and Donal Mullane had three goals and two assists as the Polar Bears beat the Panthers in a mutual opener in Brunswick.

Zach Chandler added three goals for Bowdoin. Jack Sheehan scored five goals for Middlebury.

MIT 17, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 7:  Ryan Gehbhard scored three of his five goals in the first quarter as the Engineers (4-0) took an 8-0 lead and beat the Nor’easters (2-3) in Biddeford.

Kyle Kennedy had four goals for UNE.

TUFTS 27, COLBY 7: Mac Bredahl had six goals and four assists as the Jumbos cruised by the Mules in the season-opener in Medford, Massachusetts.

Jake Surette had two goals and an assist for Colby.

WESLEYAN 22, BATES 8: Justin Hazard and Pat Doherty had four goals each and the Cardinals (1-0, 1-0 NESCAC) beat the Bobcats (0-2, 0-1) in a conference opener in Middletown, Connecticut.

COLBY 9, TUFTS 4: Annie Eddy had four goals as the Mules beat the Jumbos in the season opener for both teams in Waterville.

MIDDLEBURY 19, BOWDOIN 12: Erin Nicholas had six goals and Jane Earley added five as the Panthers beat the Polar Bears in their season opener in Middlebury, Vermont.

ST. JOSEPH’S 19, HUSSON 1: Lydia Dexter had four goals and five assists as the Monks (3-0) beat the Eagles (0-1) in Bangor.

Cailyn Wesley added three goals, while Brianna Paul and Heather Rohr each added two for St. Joseph’s.

WESLEYAN 17, BATES 3: Laura Baine had three goals and three assists as the Cardinals (2-0, 2-0 NESCAC) beat the Bobcats (1-3, 0-2) in Lewiston.

MAINE 11, GEORGE WASHINGTON 3: Quinn McDaniel and Jeremiah Jenkins both had three hits, including a solo home run as the Black Bears (2-6) beat the Colonials (2-7) in Washington, D.C.

Caleb Leys allowed three runs on four hits in 5 2/3 innings to earn the win for Maine.

SALIBURY 17, SOUTHERN MAINE 3: The Seagulls (6-4) scored seven runs in the top of the third to beat the Huskies (1-1) in Baltimore.

Jonathan Wilson and Arlo Pike each had RBI doubles for Southern Maine.

JOHNS HOPKINS 6, SOUTHERN MAINE 3: Jacob DeFaria’s two-run double in the third helped the Blue Jays (4-2) get past the Huskies (1-2) in Baltimore.

Arlo Pike, Jason Komula and Jonathan Wil all drove in a run for USM.

BOWDOIN SWEEPS HAMILTON: Ben McKenzie tripled to lead off the game and scored on a Luke Chessie grounder and the Polar Bears added a pair of runs in the third on back-to-back RBI doubles from Stephen Simoes and Chessie as they took Game 2, 4-1, to complete a sweep of a season-opening doubleheader with Hamilton at Clinton, New York.

Gavin Cann and Simoes each blasted two-run homers and Bowdoin won the opener 5-2.

COLBY SWEEP UMPI:  Marcus Forrester went 2 for 4 and drove in four runs, while Elijah Cohen pitched a complete game, allowing just a single as Colby blanked UMPI 6-0 in the opener of a doubleheader in Waterville.

Brady O’Brien was 2 for 3, including a three-run homer, and drove in five as the Mules won the second game, 11-2.

RENSSELAER 5, BATES 3: The Red Hawks (1-1) scored four runs in the bottom of the first and beat the Bobcats (1-3) in Troy, New York.

Noah Jankowski and Jack Brennan each had a double for the Huskies.
