SIDNEY — Maine Arts Academy Theater students plan to present their sixth annual Ten Minute Play Festival at 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, April 6 and 7, at Alumni Hall on the MeAA campus at 11 Goldenrod Lane.

The evenings will include four original plays written, directed and performed by MeAA Theater students, according to a news release from the academy. The event also will feature a photography show presented by MeAA’s photography students.

This year’s plays provide audiences with a glimpse into different worlds and varying perspectives. The four original plays include: “Mellowcreme Mongoose,” written by Ava Bickford and directed by Moxie Joncas; “Wax Wings,” written by Emily Carlton and directed by Lexi Alcott; “Silk-Wrapped Metathesiophobia,” written by Moxie Joncas and directed by Owen Hines; and “Star Garden,” written by Amara Aiken and directed by Sadie Lucey.

According to senior Zion Lawrence, “The festival allows our playwrights to showcase their work, for actors to work in a more intimate environment, and for directors to gain experience bringing these shows to the stage.”

Maine Arts Academy Theater Program is run under the direction of Jeri Pitcher and focuses on the creation of original theater through a collaborative workshopping process.

Appetizers are included in the ticket price. Tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.

All proceeds from the festival benefit the MeAA Theater Program. Tickets may be purchased at 10 Minute Play Festival — 2022 at tickets.holdmyticket.com.
