ORONO — Quinn McDaniel lined a double to center field with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning to drive in the winning run as the University of Maine walked off with a 7-6 win over the New Jersey Institute of Technology in an America East baseball game on Sunday.

Scout Knotts was 2 for 5 with a solo homer in for the Black Bears (12-14, 9-3 America East). Joe Bramanti added solo home run and a double for Maine, while Connor Goodman had three hits.

Noah Lewis pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings of relief for Maine. He allowed two hits, struck out four and walked one. Jordan Schulefand earned the win, retiring the only batter he faced in the ninth.

Albert Choi and Paul Franzoni each homered for NJIT (13-13, 8-4).

SOUTHERN MAINE SWEEPS WESTERN CONNECTICUT:  Tom Vesosky was 3 for 5 with a dobule and a triple, while Zach Mooers went 2 for 3 with three RBI and two runs scores as the Huskies (10-12, 4-2 Little East) won the first game of a doubleheader against the Warriors (4-9, 0-4) 15-0 in Hartford, Connecticut.

Cam Seymour added four hits, including a solo home run in the first game.

Vesosky had a single and a triple, while Mooers added an RBI double and scored twice to help USM win the second game, 10-5.

ST. JOSEPH’S SWEEPS ALBERTUS MAGNUS: Ben Gravel went 2 for 2, driving in a pair of runs, as the Monks (14-10, 7-1 GNAC) beat the Falcons (2-16, 2-6) 10-0 to complete a doubleheader sweep in Standish.

Jason Johnson pitched six shutout innings, allowing stwo hits and striking out seven for St. Joseph’s.

Jonathan Dube lined a two-run single to left in the bottom of the fifth for the Monks to break a 1-1 tie and grab the opener 3-1.

TUFTS SWEEPS BATES: The Jumobs (16-3, 4-1 NESCAC) scored 11 times in the top of the sixth inning and beat the Bobcats (5-16, 1-4) 16-5 in the first game of a doubleheader in Lewiston.

Jimmy Evans went 4 for 6, with a three-run home run, for the Jumbos as they won 12-2 in Game 2 to secure the sweep.

SOFTBALL

COLBY 16, BATES 13:  Amanda Cabral hit a grand slam as the Mules (14-8, 3-0 NESCAC) scored eight times in the top of the first inning and beat the Bobcats (5-11, 0-6) in Lewiston.

Colleen McAvoy was 4 for 4 with two RBI for the Mules. Chloe Wilcox added four hits, including a pair of doubles, while Payton Crowley had two hits and three RBI.

Emily Samar and Lindsey Kim each blasted a solo home run for Bates.

BOWDOIN SWEEPS THOMAS:  Katryna Dukehart and Shea Sullivan each had solo home runs to pace an 16-hit barrage as the Polar Bears (10-12) rolled past the Terriers (5-13) 11-1 to secure a non-conference doubleheader sweep at Waterville.

Caroline Sablone went 4 for 4 and drove in three runs for the Polar Bears, while Angelina Mayers added three hits, including a pair of RBI doubles.

Anna Halliday threw a two-hit shutout as Bowdoin won the opener 8-0.

ST. JOSEPH’S JOHNSON & WALES SPLIT:  Olivia Howe blasted a solo home run in the top of the second and the Monks (9-11, 5-1) added three runs in the top of the sixth to beat the Wildcats (19-2, 4-1) 5-2 in the first game of a doubleheader in Providence, Rhode Island.

Meredith Pence earned the win, allowing two runs on five hits.

The Wildcats scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth to win the second game, 8-0.

UNE SPLITS WITH SUFFOLK:  Kate Wilmot was 3 for 3 with two RBI as the Nor’easters (11-5, 5-3 Commonwealth Coast) salvaged a doubleheader split with the Rams (14-6, 5-1) with an 11-0 win in Biddeford.

Jordan Strum earned the win, allowing three hits and striking out six.

UNE lost the first game 2-1 when Lily Gustafson double in a run in the bottom of the eighth for Suffolk.

MEN’S LACROSSE

BOWDOIN 18, TRINITY 10: Patrick Fitzgerald had four goals and three assists as the Polar Bears (11-0, 7-0 NESCAC) cruised to a win over the Bantams (5-5, 1-5) in Brunswick.

Jason Lach added four goals, while Will Byrne had three goals and four assists for Bowdoin. Matt Ward also had three goals and an assists, and Zach Chandler had two goals and three assists.

William Puccio had three goals and Reid McDonald added two for Trinity.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

COLBY 15, WILLIAMS 7: Annie Eddy had four goals and Ally Franz added three as the Mules (10-1, 6-0 NESCAC) beat the Ephs (3-6, 2-4) in Waterville.

Julia Jardina, Gianna Bruno and Elizabeth Hennessey each added two goals for Colby.

Claudia Russell had two goals for Williams.
