Are you prepared for downtown Waterville traffic patterns to change from one-way to two-way starting on Nov. 5?
Waterville area drivers should buckle up: the long-awaited change in downtown traffic patterns is coming in a month.
City officials say Main and Front Streets in downtown Waterville be changed over from one-way traffic to two-way starting on Saturday, Nov. 5.
The change to two-way traffic is the culmination of a two-year, $11.2 million downtown revitalization project by the city, Colby College and the Maine Department of Transportation that also includes construction of improved and safer walkways, lighting, landscaping and intersections. The change in traffic patterns may take some getting-used-to for locals accustomed to driving in that area of the city. Pedestrians, also, will need to be aware of traffic coming from both directions in the downtown area.
But what do you think? Are you prepared for downtown Waterville traffic patterns to change from one-way to two-way? Tell us what you think in the poll and comments below.
