WINTHROP — June Foyt singled home Rileigh Chase in the top of the seventh to break a tie as Monmouth earned a 4-3 win over Winthrop in Mountain Valley Conference softball action Tuesday.

Shanna Parsons had a pair of singles and two RBIs for Monmouth (10-2), and also pitched the first five innings. She and reliever Brooklyn Federico held Winthrop to just four hits. Federico struck out two of the final three batters of the game to end the contest. Madi Herr hit a double for the Mustangs.

Annabell Blais had two hits, including a triple, for the Ramblers (7-7), and Maddie Perkins drove in two runs.

 

NOKOMIS 1, HERMON 0: Mia Coots struck out a whopping 20 batters in a perfect-game effort to lead the Warriors to a road win over the Hawks.

Hope Brooks had an RBI single for Nokomis (11-1), and Cam King had a single and a run scored. The win avenged the Warriors’ 1-0 loss to Hermon on May 10, the team’s lone loss of the season.

Katie Fowler had six strikeouts and one walk in the circle for Hermon (6-6), which fell to its third straight defeat.

 

BASEBALL

 

OXFORD HILLS 4, GARDINER 0: A three-run fifth inning helped the Vikings to victory in Gardiner.

Kolby Brown had two singles and a RBI for Oxford Hills (11-2) while Andrew Merrill had two RBIs while Eli Soehren hit a triple.

Kaden Delano pitched six innings to earn the win on the mound. He had five strikeouts on one hit. Nick Binette came in the seventh inning in relief.

Gavin White nearly went the distance for Gardiner (1-12) going 6 2/3 innings.

 

MT. BLUE 12, CAMDEN HILLS 2: Brody Walsh had a home run and three RBIs for the Cougars in a five-inning win in Farmington.

Jayden Meader had a single and two RBIs for Mt. Blue (6-7) while Nolan Leso and Zachary Poisson each had two hits. Isaac Wrigley had a double. The Cougars had a seven-run third inning.

Hunter Bell had a triple and a single for Camden Hills (5-7), and Liam O’Neal had two RBI.
