The cast has been announced for “You Can’t Take It With You,” the third production of the 82nd season, at Community Little Theater in Auburn.
“You Can’t Take It With You” is the story of a kind hearted and whimsical family patriarch, Grandpa Vanderhof, and his unconventional, yet endearing, family. This family (and their friends) are a madcap group of eccentrics, marching to the beat of their own drum, with pride and joy. Their hobbies include collecting snakes, building fireworks in the basement, writing a myriad of plays that never get published, and taking ballet lessons. When Alice, the one “normal” family member and the only one with an actual job, falls in love with Tony Kirby, the vice president of the company where she works, she insists her family put aside their uniqueness and be on their best behavior while her snobbish future in-laws come to dinner. When the Kirby’s arrive on the wrong evening, and meet the family in all their quirkiness, a hilarious chain of events ensues.
