The Somerset Family Enrichment Council and local partners plan to host the third annual free Community Baby Shower from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11.

The event will be held at the Centenary United Methodist Church at 113 Dr. Mann Road in Skowhegan. It supports new mothers and families with resources, education, and helpful gifts, according to a news release from the Kennebec Valley Community Action Program.

Dozens of raffle and door prizes will be given away throughout the event, including baby bath items, car seats, pack and plays, and strollers.

The shower is designed to support parents by providing basic newborn supplies, knowledge about resources in the community, helping to make new social connections, and having fun together.

Community partners will provide information and giveaways those who attend. Topics include Safe Sleep practices, breastfeeding, health services, the WIC program, car seat safety, self-care for parents, and a baby boutique with free gently used baby clothes.

“The Community Baby Shower is a great way to celebrate pregnant women and new families and let them know they are an important part of our community,” said event organizer Kristen Plummer. “Participants at past events have raved about how much fun they had and how connected and prepared they felt to become new parents as a result of attending the shower.”

The first 150 mothers to register will receive a Welcome Baby Bag filled with items for their newborn. The event will be offered in three 90-minute sessions.

To register for the event, contact Plummer at 207-859-2520 or kristenp@kvcap.org, or visit kvcap.org.
