Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area plan to host Camp Ray of Hope, a statewide weekend retreat for Maine individuals and families who have experienced the death of a significant person in their lives. The retreat will be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24 and 25, at Friends Camp at 729 Lakeview Drive in South China.

According to a news release from nonprofit, attendees are given opportunities to connect with other people from throughout the state of Maine who are also in the midst of transition from loss by death. Adults, teens and children will spend time in respective peer group settings and participate in workshops that encourage healthy outlets and self-care. There is time for artistic and athletic expression both individually and as a family, as well as several relaxation experiences. In addition, there are opportunities to canoe or kayak, swim, participate in arts and crafts, receive bodywork, and commune with nature in surroundings that are peaceful and unspoiled. Childcare is available for children younger than 3.

Hospice will be following CDC COVID guidelines for large gatherings. There will be testing upon arrival and masks will be required during certain activities.

The cost is $60 per person or $180 for a family of three or more. If cost is a barrier, contact Diane Worringham at 207-873-3615 ext.19 or dworringham@hvwa.org.

For questions or to request a brochure and registration form, contact Jillian Roy at 207-873-3615 ext.11 or email jroy@hvwa.org.
