An end-of-summer lawn and barn party is scheduled to be held from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Inn Along the Way, Chapman Farm, 741 Main St. in Damariscotta.

It will include the sounds and spirit of summer’s end through music, song and spoken word, according to a news release from the inn.

The event, including Rusty Hinges, Damariscotta Open Mic, inn tours and hay field walks, is a by-donation fundraiser for the Damariscotta inn. Its model is a unique and innovative community design in which older adults live interdependently in a neighborhood-style setting of small, environmentally friendly homes. It continues to welcome members of the greater community as well as serve those who seek respite and volunteer opportunities in a vibrant community setting.

In traditional Maine coast fashion, community members attending the inn’s end of summer lawn and barn party can bring a picnic. They will be surrounded with a mix of music, song, verse, dance, community fun and laughter. Performer registration begins at 1 p.m.

Rusty Hinges, whose performance will begin at 3 p.m., is a local mid-coast Maine band, playing a mix of folk music, from sea shanties to fiddle tunes, oldies to bluegrass and original tunes.

Members of the band are Nancy Bridges, violin, guitar, vocals, penny whistle; John Couch, guitar, vocals, harmonica; John Monterisi, guitar, vocals; Dan Townsend, guitar, vocals; and Peter Saladino, electric bass, vocals.
