The Ghost of Paul Revere has a pretty nice parting gift for its fans.

The Portland-based band is releasing a new album Friday, appropriately titled “Goodbye.” The release comes one day before the band’s final show, happening Saturday at the Ghostland festival on Thompson’s Point in Portland.

“Goodbye” goes on sale digitally Friday for $10.99 and eventually will be available on vinyl and CD, according to Americana Vibes, the record label distributing the album. It is available on Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud and other digital music services.

The four members of The Ghost of Paul Revere – including three who grew up together in Buxton and Hollis – announced in April the band would be splitting up this year after 11 years and that the annual Ghostland festival would be its last show. Frontman Griffin Sherry said the band’s members always tried to make music for the fun of it, but that’s been harder to do in recent years for some of them.

The 12 songs on “Goodbye” were mostly recorded live in the studio, according to a release announcing the album. They range from the folk and acoustic music the band is known for to “more rocking songs with pretty good grit to them,” said Sherry.

“I hope ‘Goodbye’ shows that a group of friends can go out in the world, sing those songs, and be rewarded for it,” Sherry said in announcing the album’s release. “Maybe it inspires other people to take a chance and realize creating can be a really wonderful thing to do. It has been for us.”
