The suspect is described as a white male between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall and 150 to 180 pounds, according to Deputy Chief Kevin D. Lully.

In a photograph released by police, the suspect is wearing a brown hat, a light-colored protective mask, a dark jacket and dark athletic pants, possibly with a light stripe.

Lully said a person who called police about the robbery said the suspect entered the bank at 21 Armory St., displayed a gun and demanded an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect fled before police arrived and has not been identified, according to Lully.

Augusta police Sgt. Todd Nyberg said Sunday no one was hurt during the robbery.

Nyberg said he could not confirm money was stolen because he had not spoken with detectives.

Officials ask that anyone with information on the suspect call Augusta police at 207-626-2370.
