HINCKLEY — SKILLS, Inc., a nonprofit serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in central Maine, has planned a hiring event for 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Northern Kennebec Valley Career Center at 23 Stanley Road. The center is located in the Averill building on the campus of the Kennebec Valley Community College Alfond Campus, according to a news release from SKILLS, Inc.

The public is invited to attend the event to learn more about open opportunities with the organization and apply for positions. Hiring event attendees will have the chance to speak with members of the SKILLS team, including a recruiter, our training specialist, and current direct support professionals.

“We look forward to meeting interested job seekers at this hiring event! SKILLS is a positive, supportive place and team members make a real difference through their work each day,” said Lori Lefferts, Human Resources director of SKILLS.

SKILLS is hiring to fill both Direct Support Professional and Team Leader positions. There is no experience required for Direct Support Professionals; SKILLS provides hirees with paid training for the position. Team Leaders are required to have two years of experience in the field of direct care.

SKILLS supports more than 140 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through community support programs, residential programs, and support in private homes throughout central Maine. Team members work across central Maine in the towns of Canaan, Clinton, Hartland, Fairfield (Hinckley, Shawmut), Newport, Palmyra, Pittsfield, St. Albans, Skowhegan and Waterville.
