Alexa Pelkey of Washington is the winner of the The Union Maine — Maine’s Wild Blueberry Festival 2023 Poster Contest.

During the 2023 Union Fair Society meeting March 20 Pelkey was presented a check for $750 by Union Fair President Matt Elwell, according to a news release from Rick Butler, fair trustee.

Pelkey provided the following biography, in part: “I was born and raised in Maine. I’ve always been inspired by the vast nature we have. From a young age, I took to the arts, always highlighting our symbiotic relationship with nature in my work. I am a mother of two. I homeschool my eldest by day, and by night I make time for painting. I’ve made logos, signs for restaurants, window art for business, donated a painting to raise money for my local library. Now I can add the fair poster to my list of work.”

The 2023 posters will soon be on display at local area businesses.

The Union Fair is scheduled for Wednesday through Sunday, July 26-30, with harness racing Sunday through Thursday, July 23-27, on Fairgrounds Lane in Union.
