Kayla Sikora, the director of Augusta Adult and Community Education, has completed her Doctor of Education degree through the University of New England.
Sikora presented a qualitative phenomenological study of former Maine Adult Education students who successfully earned a high school credential. Her dissertation was reviewed and approved on Aug. 2. She was officially published on Aug. 15.
“Completing this dissertation helped me believe in myself and my scholarly abilities. This process was both challenging and rewarding. There were times I wanted to quit, but then I remembered who was watching,” said Sikora in a news release from Augusta Adult and Community Education.
Sikora, 36, joined Augusta Adult and Community Education as director in 2022. Sikora was previously with the Regional School Unit 40 Adult Education Program. With over a decade of experience in adult education, Sikora’s passion lies in helping students reach their full potential and achieve their goals. She firmly believes in the transformative power of education and encourages lifelong learning in all aspects of life.
