Last week Austin Theriault said he was supporting Donald Trump in part because of Social Security and Medicare, but Theriault was mistaken.
Donald Trump has not presented a plan to protect Social Security and Medicare — hardly surprising since he proposed cutting both programs every year he was in office.
The Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 agenda would cut Social Security benefits and raise the retirement age to 70 and he has said “there’s a lot you can do … in terms of cutting” Social Security and Medicare.
No doubt Theriault has lots of reasons for supporting Donald Trump, but if he truly wants to protect Social Security and Medicare and look out for the thousands of Mainers who rely on both, he should vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.
