Police in Fairfield are searching for a mother and her 3-year-old son, both of whom were last seen on Monday, though they do not believe the pair to be in danger.
Star Cunningham, who had recently moved from the Chelsea area, was last seen in Fairfield Center after getting into an altercation with her mother, Fairfield Officer Matthew Wilcox said on Thursday. He said Cunningham’s mother called police on Monday.
“(Cunningham) took her son and headed out toward Fairfield Center,” Wilcox said on a phone call Thursday night. “Nobody had seen them since.”
Late Thursday night, Wilcox said that while police were still trying to reach Cunningham, they had spoken to someone who had been in contact with the woman and “do not believe that her and the child are in danger.”
He said Cunningham moved over the weekend into her mother’s home in Fairfield with her son, whose name Wilcox declined to give.
Following the altercation, Wilcox said Cunningham planned to get a ride from a friend, but that person had car trouble and was not able to pick the pair up. He said police have spoken with that friend but did not provide further details.
Wilcox said police pinged Cunningham’s cellphone around 10 a.m. Thursday, and determined it to be near Sidney, but officers were still unable to locate her.
