An Augusta woman who police say assaulted a man at a business in Windsor and fled in a stolen pickup truck was arrested Friday in Pittsfield.
Jenyfer Clark, 33, of Augusta, was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, assault, and violating conditions of release. She also had warrants on a probation revocation and charges of assault, disorderly conduct, and refusing to submit to arrest.
Maine State Police responded at around 6 p.m. Thursday to 142 Augusta-Rockland Road in Windsor for a report that an out-of-control woman had assaulted a business owner and fled in a pickup truck, according to a news release from Shannon Moss, public information officer for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Police published a social media post including a photograph of the woman taken by a witness to the alleged assault, asking for help identifying her, the release said. Police received one “credible” tip based on that post and identified the woman as Clark.
The investigation continued into early Friday morning, when state troopers found Clark hiding on the Canaan Road in Pittsfield at 3:40 a.m., arrested her and took her to Kennebec County jail.
The business owner was not injured. The business at that address is an auto repair shop.
Moss said the investigation is continuing and police anticipate more charges are likely.
