The following area students earned collegiate recognition.
Simmons University
BOSTON — Emma Soule of Farmingdale and Emma Parrish of Whitefield have been named to the 2024 spring semester dean’s list at Simmons University in Boston.
To qualify, undergraduate students must obtain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, based on 12 or more credit hours of work in classes using the letter grade system.
University of Hartford
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Dakota Jones of Brooks traveled to Washington, D.C. as part of the University of Hartford’s “Hartt Salsa All-Stars” music group, to play a half-hour performance at Education Secretary Miguel Cardona’s Educacion en Accion Summit on Oct. 15.
The daylong event featured leaders in higher education, best-selling authors, Latino influencers, and even a few celebrities.
Salsa music star Frankie Negron and singer/actor Mauro Castillo (Encanto) spoke with the group about their careers. Later, Negron and Castillo performed a few numbers with the All-Stars.
Bob Jones University
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Owen Hilton has been named to Bob Jones University’s University Singers, the university’s largest choral organization.
Hilton, a resident of South Gardiner, is a freshman majoring in multimedia journalism.
University of Maryland Global Campus
ADELPHI, Md. — Tyler Sheets of Fairfield was named to the 2024 summer term dean’s list at University of Maryland Global Campus.
To be eligible, a student must complete at least six credits during the term, earned a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the term, and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at UMGC.
