Sully Scholle’s goal with 9:14 left in regulation capped Maine’s comeback from a two-goal deficit, and the Black Bears remained undefeated after playing to a 2-2 tie against Northeastern in a Hockey East game Saturday night in Boston.
Scholle also got the clinching goal in the shootout to give the sixth-ranked Black Bears (4-0-1, 1-0-1 Hockey East) an extra point in the Hockey East standings, though the game officially counts as a tie.
Northeastern (1-3-1, 0-1-1) led 2-0 after goals by Nick Rheaume in the first period and Cam Lund early in the second. Brandon Holt started Maine’s comeback with a power-play goal later in the second.
Maine goalie Albin Boija finished with 31 saves.
