Eljah Freeman scored 25 points to lift Maranacook past Oak Hill, 59-55, in a boys’ basketball game on Monday in Readfield.

Jack Fontaine scored 10 points, while Ethan Chilton and Caldre Glowa each added nine points for Maranacook (2-0).

Braden New scored 17 points and Braden Dubuc added 14 for Oak Hill (1-1)

PINE TREE ACADEMY 53, TEMPLE ACADEMY 32: Silas Yeaton had 20 points, Lucky Kevaya added 11 points and Breakers (1-0) defeated the Bereans (0-2) in Waterville.

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 80, HALL-DALE 40: Jace Bessey surpassed 1,000 career points during the second quarter of the Phoenix’s (2-0) victory over the Bulldogs in Jay.

Bessey, a senior, entered the season needing 40 points to reach 1,000. He put up 28 points in the season-opening win over Boothbay on Friday, then scored 20 against Hall-Dale.

Cai Dougher added 19 points for Spruce Mountain (2-0). Hunter Buote finished with 11 and Dylan Jewett had 10.

Matt Waller led the Bulldogs (1-1) with eight points, while Karter Eldridge, Keegan Cary and Greyson Cary each scored seven.

WATERVILLE 52, MCI 46: Derek Couture topped four double-digit scorers for the Purple Panthers (1-1) in their road win over the Huskies (0-1) in Pittsfield.

Couture finished with 14 points, including 7-of-10 shooting at the free-throw line. Chris Nawfel and Cade Rogers (4 of 4 on foul shots) each contributed 11 points and Garrett Gendreau had 10 for Waterville.

MCI’s David Wright scored a game-high 15 points, and Caleb Rush added 10.
