Eli Desmond led the second-quarter charge as Oak Hill pulled away from Boothbay on its way to a 60-47 Mountain Valley Conference boys basketball victory on Wednesday in Wales.
Desmond hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 14 points to help the Raiders (4-11) outscore the Seahawks 22-7 in the second and build a 33-19 halftime advantage.
Desmond finished with 23 points. Braden New added 12, including 7-of-7 shooting at the free-throw line, and Braden Dubuc scored nine points.
Boothbay’s (4-11) Tyson French also had 23 points.
MT. ABRAM 63, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 57: Bryce Wilcox drained eight 3-pointers and poured in 34 points to lead the Roadrunners past the Phoenix in Jay.
Brennan Mitchell added 16 points and Killian Pillsbury made three 3s and scored 10 points for Mt. Abram (14-1).
Jace Bessey led Spruce Mountain (12-3) with 23 points, including four 3s and 7-of-8 shooting from the foul line, while Cai Dougher contributed 18 points.
WINTHROP 61, RICHMOND 39: Braden Branagan jump-started the Ramblers’ offense with four first-quarter 3-pointers in a road win over the Bobcats in Richmond.
Branagan’s 14 first-quarter points helped Winthrop (9-7) take a 20-6 lead after one period. Branagan finished with six 3s and a game-high 20 points. Cole Bard added 14 points and Carter Rivers had nine.
Jake Gay led Richmond (7-5) with 17 points, while Zander Steel scored 15.
MONMOUTH 55, DIRIGO 47: Aiden Oliveira scored 14 points, grabbed five rebounds and doled out five assists as the Mustangs (10-4) defeated the Cougars (9-7) in a battle of the past two Class C state champions in Monmouth.
Bingham Abbott also put up 14 points for Monmouth. Jacob Harmon contributed 11. Levi Laverdiere, who also had a strong defensive outing, scored eight points, as did Rory Foyt.
Nathaniel Wainwright made three 3-pointers and scored a game-high 16 points for Dirigo, and Dakota White had 13 points.
