Jan Curtis and Breanna Burlock each scored 12 points, leading eighth-seeded Presque Isle to a 62-36 win over No. 9 Maranacook in a Class B North girls basketball preliminary-round game Tuesday in Presque Isle.
Marion Young also reached double figures with 11 points for the Wildcats (11-8), who advance to play No. 1 Caribou in the quarterfinals Saturday at Bangor’s Cross Insurance Center.
Maranacook’s (9-10) Alice Ferran scored all 13 of her points in the second half. Celia Bergdahl added 11 for the Black Bears.
POLAND 45, MT. ABRAM 36: A balanced offensive attack carried the ninth-seeded Knights (13-6) over the eighth-seeded Roadrunners (9-10) in a Class C South preliminary in Salem Township.
Charlotte Grenier made three 3-pointers and paced Poland with 11 points, and Phoebe Paradis, Lise Poublan and Payton Rose each added nine points.
Kharlie Turner scored 11 and Jenna Osgood had 10 for Mt. Abram.
The Knights advance to face top-seeded Hall-Dale (15-3) in the quarterfinals next Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. at the Augusta Civic Center.
