Adam Prince scored three goals and the Bowdoin men’s soccer team cruised to a 7-2 win over Lyons College in the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament on Saturday in Brunswick.

The Polar Bears (11-3-3) will host UMass Boston at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Mateo Pacelli and Tyler Huck scored in the first 15 minutes to give Bowdoin a 2-0 lead. Prince then got back-to-back goals before Andre Rodriguez scored for Lyons (10-7-3). Felipe Rueda Duran added to Bowdoin’s lead before halftime, then Prince and Donovan Sinicropi scored in the second half.

Alden Mehta had three assists.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

COLBY 2, MONTCLAIR STATE 0: The Mules scored in each half to beat the Red Hawks (13-0-7) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and advance to the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament.

Colby (11-4-3) plays MIT in the second round at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Jane Maguire scored an unassisted goal in the first half and Amanda Schneider was assisted by Abigail Jarvi in the second half. MK Marshall made two saves and Sadie Gardner had one for the Mules.

MESSIAH 6, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Addi Martin and Brittany Laird both scored twice as the Falcons (20-2) beat the Huskies (11-11-2) in the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament in Grantham, Pennsylvania.

Marie Benoit scored early in the second half for USM. Madi Cook and Halle Brown each made three saves for the Huskies.

Tahlia Lloyd and Kenzie Derstine also scored for Messiah.

BABSON 2, BOWDOIN 1: Grace Mullaney scored in the third quarter and the Beavers eliminated the Polar Bears from the NCAA Division III tournament in Babson Park, Massachusetts.

Caroline DiGiovanni scored in the first quarter to give Babson a 1-0 lead.

Emily Ferguson of Bowdoin (10-8) tied the game in the second quarter. The Polar Bears received an at-large bid to the tournament and beat Scranton 7-0 in the first round.

Bowdoin goalie Lauren O’Donnell and Babson’s Madison Tibbals, of Gorham, both made five saves.

FOOTBALL

UNE 59, NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE 3: Chris Lang completed 20 of 23 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns, and the Nor’easters (8-2, 5-2 Conference of New England) cruised to a win over the Pilgrims (1-9, 1-6) in their regular-season finale in Biddeford.

John Germano caught four passes for 88 yards and two touchdowns. Zak Ramos rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown, and Damien Jones ran for 90 yards and a score.

HUSSON 48, MAINE MARITIME 7: Max Clark completed 13 of 20 passes for 275 yards and three touchdowns as the Eagles (4-6, 3-4 CNE) beat the Mariners (0-10, 0-7) in Bangor.

Mari Montgomery had four receptions for 164 yards and two touchdowns. Jed Lober rushed 12 times for 112 yards and a touchdown.
