Boston Red Sox pitcher Justin Slaten, who has been on the injured list since April 5 with a right oblique strain, tossed a scoreless inning for the Portland Sea Dogs in Sunday’s 11-4 win over the Somerset Patriots in Somerset, New Jersey.
Working as the opener, Slaten allowed one hit and struck out two batters. Hayden Mullins entered the game in the second and struck out 10 batters in six innings. He allowed two hits and walked one batter.
Johanfran Garcia was 2 for 5 with a home run and four RBI for Portland (13-14), while Nelly Taylor also homered. Tyler McDonough stole two bases, including home in the front end of a double-steal in the fourth inning. Ahbram Liendo also stole twice.
Tyler Hardman and Marco Luciano homered for Somerset (12-15).
