SKOWHEGAN LOG DAYS

Skowhegan Log Days is scheduled to celebrate the town’s logging heritage and Kennebec River history July 9-11. Festivities will blend timber sports, river activities and community.

MOXIE FESTIVAL

The 2026 Moxie Festival is set for Friday through Sunday, July 10-12, on School Street and in downtown Lisbon. 

It’s the 42nd annual celebration of Moxie, Maine’s unofficial “state soda,” and this year’s theme is “Moments in History With Moxie.”

The festival packs in classic small‑town flavor: a parade, live music, a 5K race and kids’ run, carnival rides, food vendors, and a big fireworks show.  It also keeps its quirky signature contests, including the Moxie Chugging Contest—where participants try to drink as much Moxie as possible in two minutes—and a whoopie pie eating contest, along with a car show and other family-friendly activities.

MAINE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

The 29th Maine International Film Festival is set for July 10-19 at various venues in Waterville.

Throughout 10 days, people will have the opportunity to see a unique slate of 100 films, including world premieres, made-in-Maine features, classic revivals, and short films from around the globe.

MAINE POTATO BLOSSOM FESTIVAL

The Maine Potato Blossom Festival, set for July 11-19, is Aroostook County’s celebration of agriculture with nine days of live music, fantastic food, dozens of family-friendly events, one of the largest parades in New England. It’s capped off with fireworks over the Aroostook River.

OLD HALLOWELL DAY

The annual celebration for this riverfront city kicks off July 17 with a cribbage tournament, theater and a Boo Bus tour of Hallowell and Augusta with the Lady in White. On July 18, the fun continues with events for everyone, including a bike ride, a road race, plant and book sales and a sturgeon search among other events.

THE KNEADING CONFERENCE

Don’t miss the Kneading Conference set for July 22-24 at various venues in downtown Skowhegan.

The conference brings together grainiacs and bread buffs from all over the country. Farmers, professional and home bakers, brewers, chefs, cooks, grain researchers, maltsters, food entrepreneurs, and wood-fired oven enthusiasts gather to educate one another about the art and science of growing and milling grains, baking artisan breads, and brewing delicious beer.

MAINE ARTISAN BREAD FAIR

Check out the Maine Artisan Bread Fair set from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at Skowhegan State Fairgrounds in Skowhegan.

The fair is dedicated solely to real bread and everything associated with it. The Maine Grain Alliance has sponsored the Bread Fair for 15 years and the offerings have grown each year.  Those who attend will be able to sample foods ranging from pizzas cooked in wood-fired ovens, fresh sourdough loaves, sweet pastries to a variety of other delicious locally produced foods.

Come for the artisan halvah, maple syrup, jams, butter, cheese, books and equipment for baking at home, professional bakers to answer questions, live music, kitchen linens, demos, and Maine-made foods.

IRONMAN 70.3 MAINE

Ironman 70.3 Maine returns to Augusta on July 26, drawing triathletes for a swift Kennebec River swim — the world’s fastest in 2023 — followed by a 56-mile bike and rolling 13.1-mile run through the Kennebec Valley.

Spectators planning to watch Ironman 70.3 Maine in Augusta will find plenty of opportunities to cheer on athletes throughout race day. The event begins with a 1.2-mile downstream swim in the Kennebec River, with viewing available along Front Street and the Kennebec River Trail. Athletes then transition to a challenging 56-mile cycling course through the Kennebec Valley before returning to Augusta for the half-marathon run and finish.

The best spectator experience is centered around downtown Augusta, where fans can see competitors multiple times during the run and celebrate finishers near the YMCA Athletic Fields and finish-line area on Union Street. Free public parking is available in several state-owned lots near the Capitol complex, although some roads and parking areas will be closed on race day.

Spectators are encouraged to arrive early, wear comfortable shoes, and use the Ironman Athlete Tracker app to follow racers in real time.

FARMINGTON SUMMER FESTIVAL

This year’s Farmington Summer Festival is set for July 25 in downtown Farmington.

The event typically brings thousands of visitors downtown for a full day of family-friendly fun featuring local crafters and exhibitors, live music, a food court, children’s games and activities, a petting zoo, fire truck tours, a talent show, a children’s parade, and a lively street dance.

With Broadway closed to traffic and filled with vendors, performers and community organizations, Summer Fest offers something for everyone.

MAINE LOBSTER FESTIVAL

The Maine Lobster Festival, scheduled for July 29 through Aug. 2, is five days of fun and feasting on the coast of Maine.

What started as an idea for a local marine festival to revive Midcoast Maine communities has turned into a celebration of local seafood.

​​KENNEBEC RIVER BREWFEST

The annual Kennebec River Brewfest, hosted by the Augusta Downtown Alliance, is scheduled for 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, on Front Street in Augusta.

Celebrate a nine-year legacy of supporting the local food and drink community. Those who attend can sample 100 unique brews, ciders, meads, and spirits from local suppliers.

MAINE HIGHLAND GAMES

The Maine Highland Games & Scottish Festival, a celebration of Scottish culture, is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Windsor Fairgrounds, 82 Ridge Road in Windsor.

If you go, you can see sheepdog demonstrations, Highland cattle, youth activities, and historical reenactors.

ANSON-MADISON DAYS

Anson-Madison Days, an annual community celebration, is planned for Aug. 20-23 throughout the Anson and Madison communities.

SKOWHEGAN CRAFT BREW FESTIVAL

The Skowhegan Craft Brew Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 5, along Water Street in Skowhegan.

The festival features unlimited tastings, live music, local food vendors serving farm-to-table specialties, artisan exhibitors, and a lively atmosphere overlooking the Kennebec River.

More than just a tasting event, the festival serves as a fundraiser for Main Street Skowhegan, supporting downtown revitalization and community development projects.

MAINE CHEESE FESTIVAL

Don’t miss the annual Maine Cheese Festival scheduled for noon-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, in Manson Park, 190 Crosby St. in Pittsfield.

The event is a celebration of Maine’s vibrant food, beverage, and artisan community, bringing together more than 65 Maine-made vendors for a full day of flavor and discovery.
