The sights and sounds of fair season will return this month as the Farmington Fair marks its 185th year.
The annual exposition will run Sunday, Sept. 20, through Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Farmington Fairgrounds, 292 High St., bringing together agriculture, entertainment, racing, rides and exhibits.
Agriculture remains at the center of the fair, with livestock exhibits and other agricultural events scheduled throughout the week. The fair also features harness racing, midway rides and games, food, exhibits and entertainment.
The Miss Farmington Fair Pageant is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, on the stage inside the pulling ring. It includes Little Miss and Junior Miss categories, with trophies, sashes and crowns among the awards.

One of the week’s educational events is Ag Day on Monday, Sept. 21. The program runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is designed for students in kindergarten through fourth grade, with learning stations focused on agriculture, conservation and environmental topics. Registration is required.
Cash admission for adults is $10 Sunday through Thursday and $12 Friday and Saturday. Admission for children is $5 Sunday through Thursday and $6 Friday and Saturday, while children 7 and younger are admitted free.
Tuesday and Thursday are senior citizen and veterans days, with $5 admission for seniors 62 years and older and for veterans. Weeklong and family passes are also available.
The Farmington Fair is organized by the Franklin County Agricultural Society and is promoted as “Maine’s Harvest Fair.”
