NEW PORTLAND — A 32-year-old woman suffered minor injuries in a rollover crash Thursday afternoon, police said.

Milena Pereira, of Linden, New Jersey, was partially ejected from her work truck and then pinned underneath it before first responders were able to extricate her, Chief Deputy Mike Mitchell of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

The crash was reported around 3:40 p.m. Pereira was driving a 2007 GMC utility truck with a bucket on Route 16, heading from Kingfield to New Portland, Mitchell said in a phone interview. The road is also known as Bog Road.

A witness reported the truck nearly struck their vehicle as it came around a corner, Mitchell said. Pereira then over-corrected the truck and it went off the road into some trees.

A member of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office who was in the area was first on scene, Mitchell said. Fire and rescue crews subsequently freed Pereira from the wreck.

“It was a lot of people,” Mitchell said of the effort.

Pereira was taken by Northstar EMS ambulance to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, where she was cleared with minor injuries like bumps, scrapes and bruises, Mitchell said. A LifeFlight of Maine helicopter responded, too, but wasn’t needed, Mitchell said.

Pereira was not wearing a seatbelt, Mitchell said. Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.

The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office reconstructed the crash. The Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit also responded to the scene.

The truck that crashed has a Florida registration and is registered to ASB Tek LLC, Mitchell said. He believed the company was contracted by the internet and telecommunications company TDS.

The New Portland Fire Department on Facebook thanked agencies that provided assistance, including the Kingfield, Carrabassett Valley and Anson fire departments, Maine Health EMS, LifeFlight of Maine, and the communication centers for Somerset and Franklin counties.
