Cape Elizabeth tree warden Mike Duddy holds an oak leaf damaged by hungry winter moths in woods along one of the town’s greenbelt trails. In May and June, after the moths hatch from eggs laid the previous winter, Duddy says if you stop on a trail and listen, “you can hear them munching. Millions of them.”
