AUGUSTA — Work recently began on Memorial Bridge that spans the Kennebec River. Repainting and minor steel repair is expected to continue through November, with little to no traffic impacts.

The removal of paint will create significant noise. Contractors will blast paint off the structure with steel shot, which is similar to BBs.

The work will take place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Saturday. No work is expected to take place Sundays or most holidays.
