In his nonsensical column of Feb. 23, Jim Fossel asserts, “We’ll have a nationally targeted U.S. Senate race, where Democrats will — again — attempt to defeat Sen. Susan Collins, simply because they don’t have any better options elsewhere in the country.”
This statement makes absolutely no sense at all. Susan Collins is a target precisely because she has been a terrible legislator in her most recent term.
Collins did a very poor job in vetting Supreme Court nominees, and she can take credit for the end of reproductive rights guaranteed by Roe v. Wade. She has also failed in the confirmation hearings and votes for Trump’s cabinet. Just because Jim Fossel worked for Sen. Susan Collins doesn’t not mean she should not be targeted for defeat.
