Jeanne Dennett
FAIRFIELD – Fairfield: It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jeanne Dennett, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who left this world peacefully on Oct. 31, 2025, surrounded by family. Her life was a testament to strength, generosity, and unwavering devotion to the people she loved. Jeanne’s faith in God played an important role in her entire life, and she was an active parishioner in the Corpus Christi Parish.
Born on April 9, 1925, in Frenchville, Maine. to Denis and Marie Chasse, she was the last surviving of 14 children. She grew into a woman whose kindness touched everyone she met. She had a gift for making others feel seen and cared for, whether through her warm smile, and her steady encouragement, or the countless quiet ways she showed up for those around her. She believed in hard work, in doing what was right even when it wasn’t easy, and in loving without conditions. She took great pleasure in the garden she planted and tended to every year, and shared her vegetables with family and friends. She would knit mittens at night and donate to those in need in the winter months. Every summer Jeanne would organize the yearly vacation in Rockwood for her many siblings and their families. They enjoyed many hours of fishing on Moosehead Lake.
Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into creating a home filled with laughter, comfort, and safety. She taught by example—how to be resilient, how to be compassionate, and how to face life’s challenges with grace.
She is survived by her husband of 77 years John Dennett of Fairfield; children David and wife Linda Dennett of Norton, Mass., and Lucy Dennett of Oakland; grandchildren Jacob and wife Cindy Dennett of Norton, Mass., Rebecca Leonard of Foxboro, Mass., and Marcus and wife Kate Dennett of Norton, Mass.; and great-grandchildren Gabriel, Ashten, Brooke, Callie, Mackenzie and Mason Dennett, and Oliver, Bradley, and Kyle Leonard; and many nieces and nephews who will forever carry her love and her lessons in their hearts.
Her absence leaves an ache that words cannot fully capture, but her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped and the memories she leaves behind. We will honor her by living with the same attributes of kindness, courage, and generosity that she showed every day.
The family would like to thank Beacon Hospice and Lakewood Healthcare for their excellent care of Jeanne in her final months. We would also like to thank all the in-home caregivers, especially two special women, Kim Ames and Beth Chamberlain, who cared for Jeanne and John and became family to us all.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 9 a.m. at Notre Dame Church in Waterville. All who knew Jeanne, are welcome to join us in remembering and honoring her remarkable life. Burial will take place at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Augusta, Maine on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 10 am.
