Markus Anderson and Stefan Stojanovic both scored twice to lead Brooklyn FC to a 5-1 win over the Portland Hearts of Pine in a USL Cup game on Sunday at Maimoides Park in New York.

Brooklyn, a USL Championship team, moves into second place in Group 5 of the in-season tournament with six points. Portland is in fourth place with four points. The seven group winners and one wild card will advance to the knockout stage. The Hearts of Pine have one game remaining in Cup play against the New York Cosmos on July 11 at Fitzpatrick Stadium.

Hartford Athletic leads Group 5 with seven points.

Brooklyn took the lead in the eighth minute when Anderson scored for the first time. Portland tied it in the 19th minute on a goal by Aboubacar Camara.

Brooklyn retook the lead when Stojanovic scored his first goal of the game in the 36th minute. Stojanovic scored again in first-half stoppage time to make it 3-1.

Thomas Vancaeyezeele headed in a corner kick by CJ Olney in 55th minute, two minutes before Portland’s JayTee Kamara was given a red card. Playing a man down, Portland gave up a goal to Anderson in the 70th minute.

Portland returns to USL League One play at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Fitzpatrick Stadium against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC.
