    Clean-coal technology increasingly effective

    The Sept. 1 letter "Coal, gas and oil lobbies are not looking out for us," falsely claims that there is no such thing as clean coal. The facts show that coal is being used more cleanly now than ever before because of investments in clean coal technology.

    As commissioner, I was wrong about grist mill

    I just came from the grand opening of the Skowhegan Grist Mill in downtown Skowhegan. It was an exciting affair with lots of people and lots of excitement for the prospects for the grist mill and associated businesses.

    Drive Out Cancer event of Cony, GAHS succeeded

    I would like to thank area residents for their generosity and support of the annual Drive Out Cancer event that took place between Cony and Gardiner high schools. In August, the 2012 Relay For Life's publicity committee stood with the Augusta and Gardiner communities to Drive Out Cancer by sharing how money raised at Relay For Life supports the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care.
