Heather Ahern Huish, a yes voter, holds a quote by Thomas Jefferson. In a 1786 letter Jefferson wrote: "Preach my dear sir, a crusade against ignorance, establish and improve the law for educating the common people."
Farmington voters line up for ballots and to vote at the Farmington Community Center on Tuesday. A ballot clerk said the voting was steady and expected a large turnout for the school budget.
Inside voting booths at the Farmington Community Center on Tuesday, Rachel and Ryan Decker cast their ballots as their son Cameron reaches over to see what his mother is doing. Ryan Decker said that although he thinks education is important, he voted against the RSU 9 school budget due to increased spending requests. He said the school needs increases but not the funding sources. "There needs to be a balance," Decker said.
