Workers demolish a former sawmill beside Masse Dam in Vassalboro on Wednesday. The removal is the first step in a project to restore alewives to Outlet Stream that ran under the mill.
The Masse sawmill in Vassalboro was torn down so water pipes below it will not be damaged and water supplies will not be cut off when the dam is removed by the Alewife Restoration Initiative.
