More than 100 residents attended Vassalboro's annual Town Meeting Monday night. Voters approved

Vassalboro resident Larisa Batchelder questions selectmen on the proposed article to enter into a waste management contract with Fiberight in Hampden. A majority of voters approved the article at Monday's Town Meeting despite concerns and opposition by several residents.

Vassalboro town officials and a member of the Municipal Review Committee addressed voter concerns about entering into a new waste management contract. Vassalboro Town Meeting attendees questioned the bidding process, cost and impact on the town's finances. The article, which allows the town to join the Fiberight proposal for a waste-to-energy plant in Hampden, passed.
