Wilson Hess, a member of the Freedom Community Historical Society board of directors, looks out a weather-beaten window Thursday at Keen Hall in Freedom. The historical society has received a grant that will allow it to restore the endangered historic building for use as a community center. He says the small town desperately needs one. "There are only 710 of us, but it helps to have something like that, and to have it be in the old village, we think, is the most appropriate."
