Mary Jo Cressy, 103, of Bridgton, gets plenty of assistance as she tries Nordic skiing for the first time. Helping her stand on skis are Kristina Sabasteanski, David Jones and Joe Theriault at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester. Cressy was able to ski though the Veterans Adaptive Sports & Training program. Sabasteanski, a former Olympian and founder of VAST, found out that Cressy wanted to ski and made a special exception.

While the program is designed for veterans, Sabasteanski made a special exception.
