Kristina Sabasteanski helps May Jo Cressy, 103, stand up, as Rob McAleer steadies a walker retrofitted with skis, and David Jones prevents the skis from moving. They all pitched in to help Cressy ski, which was something on her bucket list, at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester. Cressy was able to ski with the help of the Veterans Adaptive Sports & Training program. Sabasteanski, a former Olympian and founder of VAST, also works part time at Bridgton Health Care Center, where she discovered that Cressy wanted to ski. While the program is designed for veterans, Sabasteanski made a special exception.
