    Divers submerge beneath Cobbossee Stream in Gardiner Monday while training to control invasive aquatic species. The two-day workshop hosted by the Maine Volunteer Lake Monitor Program taught 20 workers from eight non-profits from across Maine methods on how to remove plants such as milfoil, according to Roberta Hill of the monitoring program. With less than 1 percent of Maine waterways infested with invasive species, Hill believes the training provides a chance to curtail the expansion with aggressive intervention. "That gives us an opportunity to prevent the spread of aquatic invaders," Hill said.
