Earlier in the morning a driver of a tractor-trailer failed to stop at intersection of Water and Winthrop streets then struck a street light, which then hit the building.

    Kevin Bacon closely watches maple sap boiling into syrup as steam rises from the evaporator at Bacon Farm Maple Products on the Pond Road in Sidney on Sunday, March 11. Bacon said the sap is running steadily and expects a good yield. "We're ahead of last year," he said, standing beside the huge evaporator that produces 25 gallons of syrup an hour. The farm will be open both weekend days for the March 25 Maine Maple Sunday event.
