    Firefighters check on Key Club members playing car crash victims during an event to discourage distracted driving, staged on Thursday at Hall-Dale High School in Farmingdale. Farmingdale, Gardiner, West Gardiner, Hallowell and Augusta fire departments along with Delta Ambulance, Maine State Police, Kennebec Sheriff's Office and Hallowell Police took part in the event. Hall-Dale students who are junior firefighters with the Hallowell and Farmingdale departments also took part in the event. Firefighters cut open the cars to remove victims while law enforcement officers investigated the driver who caused the accident in the scenario. After field sobriety tests, he was handcuffed and taken away in a police car.

The state scientists were gathering juvenile eels for a study of the fish's life cycle.
