    Bath Police Department Cpl. Michelle Small restrains dog, Sampson, on Nov. 14 while training with the State Police Canine Unit at the former Stevens School in Hallowell. Dogs from law enforcement agencies from across Maine practiced tracking and searching in the buildings with their handlers, according to State Trooper Eric Verhille. The developer of Stevens Commons, Matt Morrill, let the dog teams utilize a building that once housed inmates as a training area free of charge, Verhille said.
